PROPOSED PROJECT

Supplier Quote Comparison

Help buying teams compare supplier quotes against the same parts list and purchase requirements. Read quantities, materials, delivery times, and volume discounts; flag missing details and draft questions for the buyer to approve.

Incomplete. Do not rank as cheapest.

Fictional supplier quotes. Known totals include the specified quantity and stated delivery charge. Missing material, delivery, and timing remain unresolved. No quote is accepted or order placed.

The project in practice.

A fictional buyer needs 100 steel brackets within 18 days. Supplier A quotes 4.80 each plus 35 delivery, total 515, in 14 days. B quotes 4.40 plus 75, also 515, in 21 days; its cheaper 3.90 rate requires 200 units. C quotes 4.20 each but omits delivery and material, so 420 is only a subtotal. All prices use the same example currency and exclude tax.

WHAT IS USUALLY DONE

Buyers compare unit prices in separate PDFs. Delivery fees, different quantities, missing material terms, and volume discounts can make the cheapest-looking line the wrong comparison.

WHAT SOVRUN CAN DO FOR YOU

Sovrun would read supplier quotes against one designated parts list and purchase requirement. It would normalize quantities and supported charges, show missing terms, and calculate a like-for-like total only where the inputs permit it. Buyers receive draft questions and a comparison they can verify before choosing a supplier.

515 versus 515.
The delivery date breaks the tie.

Supplier B’s 4.40 unit price is lower, but its delivery charge brings the total to the same 515 as A. Its quoted lead time is 21 days against the buyer’s 18-day requirement. Supplier C cannot yet be compared on a complete basis.

SUPPLIER B / QUANTITY BREAK

3.90 applies at 200 units.

The request is for 100. Apply the 4.40 rate to this comparison, and show any 200-unit alternative as a separate purchasing decision.

SUPPLIER C / QUESTIONS TO APPROVE

What is still missing?

Confirm steel grade or the agreed material specification, delivery cost, and lead time. The 420 line is only the parts subtotal.

Comparable costs.
Visible purchasing constraints.

The first build covers a defined parts list and charge scope, producing a buyer-reviewed comparison and questions. It does not choose a supplier automatically.

How we’d make it happen.

  1. Set one comparison requirement

Fix the part revision, quantity, required material, and delivery deadline before reading prices.

  2. Recompute supported totals

Apply the correct quantity break and include known delivery charges. Show lead times and missing terms beside the arithmetic.

  3. Resolve questions before selection

Draft specific supplier questions. Buyers approve the final comparison and record the reason for the chosen offer.

Where AI helps

Document models extract quote lines, quantity breaks, lead times, and exclusions. Code applies the reviewed quantity and fee rules. Language models draft questions tied to the original quote passages. Unknown shipping costs, materials, or taxes stay unresolved rather than being estimated silently.

What people approve

Buyers confirm the quoted specification, currency, quantity, delivery basis, validity, and applicable charges. Engineers resolve part substitutions. A comparison does not issue an order, accept a supplier’s terms, or treat an incomplete quote as the cheapest offer.

What we’d need to start

  • Supplier quote files and the designated parts list
  • Required quantity, material, delivery date, and comparison basis
  • Applicable charges, quantity rules, and buyer review owners

How we’d test it

Test quotes with quantity breaks, minimum orders, missing freight, currency differences, and substituted materials. Recalculate totals independently and ensure no incomplete offer receives a false all-in ranking. Confirm that draft questions are never sent automatically.

Prepared for Manufacturing & industry. We would agree on the work after reviewing your brief, materials, and requirements.
