PROPOSED PROJECT
Shipment Delay Desk
Give shipping teams one list of deliveries that need attention. Bring together tracking updates, promised arrival dates, and customer emails. Group related delays, find missing documents or stalled steps, and draft a customer update showing the next action, responsible team, and supporting records.
Two late shipments. One shared hold.
Booking promises + tracking
Broker note B09
Release waiting
on one document.
Promised day 1, 17:00 UTC
Promised day 1, 17:00 UTC
The project in practice.
At day 2, 11:00 UTC, fictional shipments S101 and S102 in container C09 are overdue against day 1, 17:00 promises. Broker note B09 says the release awaits invoice INV09. S103 has a hub-arrival scan at 10:50 and is due at noon, but has no proof of delivery. The desk groups the first two and keeps S103 as an unconfirmed handoff, with no invented new arrival time.
WHAT IS USUALLY DONE
Customer service staff open separate tracking pages and email threads to find why a shipment is late. Two deliveries held by the same missing document can be handled as unrelated cases, while an arrival scan may be mistaken for a completed handoff.
WHAT SOVRUN CAN DO FOR YOU
Sovrun would build a shipment review desk that joins tracking events, promised dates, and customer messages. It groups supported shared causes, identifies missing records, and drafts updates with a named next action and owner. Operators confirm the situation and any new delivery estimate before messages go out.
An arrival scan
is not a delivery receipt.
Shipment S103 reached the hub at 10:50 UTC on day 2. Its delivery promise is noon. At the 11:00 review it is not yet overdue, and there is no evidence of a completed customer handoff.
Arrived at hub
Tracking event E103
Handoff unconfirmed
No proof of delivery
Due in one hour
Original booking time
For C09, confirm the requested invoice and supply INV09. An operator then checks the release status. Keep that action separate from a delivery estimate: supplying the document does not prove the container has been released.
A clear next step
for every open shipment.
The proposed desk connects the tracking record to the action needed. Customer wording is drafted from confirmed information and reviewed by an operator.
One hold. Two records.

How we’d make it happen.
Join each shipment’s records
Align identifiers, event times, promises, and messages. Keep stale tracking and missing documents visible.
Group supported causes
Link shipments only when records support a shared issue. Assign a next action and owner without inventing a new arrival time.
Confirm and communicate
An operator checks the current position and approves the update. Track later evidence separately from the original promise.
Where AI helps
Language models read supplied tracking text and messages, connect explicit shipment and container references, and draft evidence-based summaries. Code compares event times and commitments. Inferred relationships remain suggestions, and an absent update is not replaced by an invented delivery estimate.
What people approve
Operations staff confirm shipment identity, the supported cause, responsible team, and customer wording. They distinguish an arrival scan from confirmed delivery and approve all estimates and messages. The tool does not clear shipments or contact customers automatically.
What we’d need to start
- Tracking events, booking promises, and shipment identifiers
- Relevant customer messages and document-status records
- Operator ownership, update rules, and the review time zone
How we’d test it
Test shared container references, contradictory status messages, stale scans, time-zone differences, and unconfirmed handoffs. Check every grouped issue against its source. Verify that draft updates preserve uncertainty and cannot be sent or mark delivery complete automatically.
Prepared for Logistics & supply chain. We would agree on the work after reviewing your brief, materials, and requirements.
